Sustainable businesses, it’s time to be bold

Sustainable businesses, I don’t mean to ruffle any feathers…

But I need you to do something for me.

I need you to head online to your website and read your copy.

Have you kept it simple? Quiet? To reflect your brand and everything you stand for? Does it have your ethos, materials and, well, that’s it?

It’s time for that to change. It’s time to shout from the rooftops about your brand. It’s time to be bold and have an authentic voice.

And this moment, right now, is where you can start.

Creative copywriting goes beyond your ethos

There is a common misconception about copywriting for sustainable businesses. People think it has to be stripped back to nothing to reflect the brand's essence.

But honestly, you’re practically asking not to connect.

Yes, your values are essential and will be a big part of people sticking around. But first and foremost, consumers know what you will do for them.

Allow me to give you an example.

‘Claddagh Creative only works with sustainable businesses that do good things for people and the planet.’

This is true. But if I were a sustainable business, I would rather read this:

‘Claddagh Creative gets results for your sustainable business by putting people first. Thanks to our thorough research and marketing strategy, you will reach your community in no time.’

See how I have only mentioned sustainability once? More than anything, your consumer wants to know how you will make their lives easier, not just how much good you will do whilst doing it.

If hiring a copywriter isn’t in the books right now. Don’t worry; we’re here whenever you’re ready. For now, here are five things you can do today to update your copywriting and improve the customer experience.

1. Figure out your personality. Are you going to incorporate a little bit of humour? Sarcasm? Inspiration? Have a brainstorm and sprinkle it throughout the website. But remember, you also need to start implementing this throughout Instagram and Social Media.

2. Revisit your 'About' page. Look, I know it’s called an ‘about us’ page, but I’m sorry to break it to you- most of the time, it’s about your audience. This is where they will feel like they can relate to you. So think about their pain points, how you can relate, and show them you’re the solution. However, don’t neglect a founder introduction! People connect with people.

3. Headlines are everything. If your headline doesn’t hook them in, they probably won't read on. Make them juicy!

4. Incorporate your story throughout all of your messaging. Is there a part of your story that is super juicy? Don’t make them wait for the About Page- get it on the homepage! Especially if it’s super relatable.

5. Formulate a blog post strategy. Please stop sleeping on blogs. Not only are they the perfect place to share how knowledgeable you are, but it’s also a fantastic way to direct traffic to your website. Win-win, right?

If the above sounds like it will take up a lot of time you just don’t have- we’ve got you covered.
